Meolea is officially in Open Beta

We are happy to announce that Meolea is in Open Beta now!

Updated

Today feels like a good day to write something down.

After about a year of researching, understanding people’s problems, learning the ins and outs of digital legacy, advanced care planning, post-death processes, and working on the platform nearly every waking minute, I am happy to announce that Meolea is officially in Open Beta!

That means anyone can sign up, start preparing their legacy, and tell us what works and what doesn’t.

I am really proud of this, even though it is a bit scary to think about it. Our platform is live and accessible for everyone who wants to sign up.

Where this started

A close friend of mine lost his mother and told me how excruciating those first days were. Not just emotionally, but all the work and administration that goes into it. He didn’t know where her documents were. He didn’t know who to call. He didn’t know what she wanted.

I’ve lost people close to me, too. But in those moments, you’re not thinking “let’s build a company from this.” It’s when you watch someone else going through the exact same thing that the pattern becomes impossible to ignore. This happens to nearly every family. Almost none of them are prepared.

That’s where Meolea came from.

What we actually built

Meolea is what I call a family handover platform. A place to prepare the things that matter before you need to, so the people you love aren’t left guessing.

Not just legally. Emotionally. Practically. The documents, yes. But also the letters you never got around to writing. The story of your life that only you know. The contact list that exists nowhere but your head (you know who you are). Or a secret or two you hadn’t told anyone yet. That last one was actually explicitly requested by my mom, though I am not sure I am quite ready for those secrets yet.

On the other side, the people you’ve invited get access to what we call the /remember experience after you pass away. A guided space designed to be genuinely useful during one of the hardest weeks of someone’s life. It’s the part of Meolea I’m most proud of, honestly.

Where we are right now

The core is there. Documents, letters, your estate, your people, your story, your memorial wishes. MeoleAI, our companion for bereavement support and end-of-life conversations, completely private, never visible to anyone else.

There’s still a lot ahead. And I mean a lot. Memorial pages, partnership features, premium tiers. But beta means building with real users, not just for imaginary ones, and that part starts now.

If you’ve ever thought, “I should really sort this stuff out,” give it a try. If you’ve been through a loss and felt genuinely lost, I’d really love to hear what you think. If you are facing a loss right now, we are here for you.

Meolea is free to try. www.meolea.com

Thanks for being here.
